The Quick Little History

I have been making this giardiniera for years. I love it. It has perfect spiciness and literally can be eaten with a spoon. Really, I'm obsessed. It all started when I took over making this delicious recipe from my sister. She began making it in honor of a family friend, who had made it initially, when he sadly and abruptly passed away from cancer. Eventually, she grew tired of the time-consuming mincing and dicing; there was no more of the spicy mix I'd come to adore. So I began….the recipe has been tweaked and changed over time, more than once, creating the Lu Style Giardiniera you enjoy now! During the development (in the midst of traveling, working, learning and appreciating the world even further) I made the choice to move to the beautiful state of Colorado-Lu Style Giardiniera's current home! Chicago is amazing…but the mountains were calling...

...I needed to share this tasty recipe not only with Chicagoans (who are all too familiar with the traditional, oily giardiniera that has made Chicago foods so amazing for years) but with everyone! Everyone who doesn't know what giardiniera is! Everyone who wants a fresher, less oily, super minced, hand-chopped version of the giardiniera you know and love! Here you go. I'm confident you'll enjoy it…

Who is that cute dog on the label?

Oh, that's Zeke! He was my family's lovable Shiba Inu (perhaps not a purebred, he was larger and fluffier). Zeke developed an eye problem with age, and at a certain point, had only one eye and, therefore, he was always winking! He would sing (howl) and loved rolling on his back (for inevitable belly rubs). He lived to the old age of 13...Zeke was my cutie, and became the obvious choice as the face for Lu Style ;)

It's VEGAN! It's SOY, NUT and GLUTEN FREE! Allergen free!

*Keep it refrigerated at all times, there are no preservatives! It is also a raw food, giving it that fresh crunch! So, keep it chillin'...
